You booty! Britain set to sizzle as footie season kicks off

SPORTS fans are set to enjoy a scorcher as the UK finally sizzles after weeks of chilly wet weather.

The dry spell proved good news for cricket lovers as the weather couldn’t save the awful Aussies in the Ashes.

And excited footie fans gearing up for the first games of the new season today are set to bask in warm sunshine.

All Brits are set to enjoy balmy temperatures this weekend, with Londoners and sun-lovers in Kent expected to enjoy highs of 28C, while Liverpool and Leeds are forecast to hit 22C.

Wales will bask in 24C sun while Scotland will hover around the 22C mark.

And the warm spell is expected to last for several days.

A Met Office spokeswoman said: “It will be a summery, sunny Saturday for most of the country, with warm air from the Azores.

“Saturday definitely looks a bit warmer than Friday, with up to 27C expected, with Sunday at perhaps 28C in Kent.

“After Monday sees 25-28C in the South, there is a 30 per cent chance of 30C on Tuesday into Wednesday.”

The sunshine is expected to make parts of the UK as hot as Barcelona and the Canary Islands this weekend and coastal towns are preparing for a massive surge in visitors.
